Brief Bio
Nirwan Ansari, Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), received his Ph.D. from Purdue University, MSEE from the University of Michigan, and BSEE (summa cum laude with a perfect GPA) from NJIT. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of National Academy of Inventors.
He authored Green Mobile Networks: A Networking Perspective (Wiley-IEEE, 2017) with T. Han, and co-authored two other books. He has also (co-)authored more than 600 technical publications. He has guest-edited a number of special issues covering various emerging topics in communi
cations and networking. He has served on the editorial/advisory board of over ten journals including as Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine. His current research focuses on green communications and networking, cloud computing, drone-assisted networking, and various aspects of broadband networks.
He was elected to serve in the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Board of Governors as a member-at-large, has chaired some ComSoc technical and steering committees, is current Director of ComSoc Educational Services Board, has been serving in many committees such as the IEEE Fellow Committee, and has been actively organizing numerous IEEE International Conferences/Symposia/Workshops. He is frequently invited to deliver keynote addresses, distinguished lectures, tutorials, and invited talks. Some of his recognitions include several excellence in teaching awards, a few best paper awards, the NCE Excellence in Research Award, several ComSoc TC technical recognition awards, the NJ Inventors Hall of Fame Inventor of the Year Award, the Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award, Purdue University Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineering Award, the NCE 100 Medal, and designation as a COMSOC Distinguished Lecturer. He has also been granted more than 40 U.S. patents.

César Benavente obtained his PhD. in telecommunications engineering in 1999 by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He is at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in the circuits and Systems Engineering Department at the Institute of Telecommunicacions (E.T.S. Ingeniería
y Sistemas de Telecomunicación). His research interests are related to digital signal processing in communication systems, software radio systems and MIMO communication systems.

Brief Bio
I am an associate professor at Embedded Software group of Delft University of Technology since 2013. My research interests are in the area of Tactile Internet, Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Physical Systems (CPS), Energy Harvesting and 60 GHz millimeter wave networks. I have supervised 18 PhD students (15 graduated, 3 ongoing) and more than 40 MSc students (36 graduated). I have participated in several European and Dutch national projects in the area of IoTs, 60 GHz communications, Smart-energy systems, Personal networks and Cognitive Radios. I have (co)authored more than 200 publications in the peer-reviewed i
nternational transactions/journals and conferences. I was responsible for the signing of an MoU between IISc-TUDelft.. In 2015, I received 4TU University Teaching Qualification diploma with distinction. I have served on the editorial board of many international journals and magazines including IEEE Transaction on Green Communication Networks, IEEE JSAC, IEEE Communication Magazine, IEEE Surveys and Tutorials and Elsevier-Communication Networks. I am a regular reviewer for many prestigious journals and conferences and serves as the TPC member for various conferences. I am also contributing to the academic community by leading many IEEE activities, such as memberships of standards boards, leading technical committees, etc. I was nominated as the vice-chair of IEEE Tactile Internet standardization group. For my excellent research contributions, I am selected as the IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer on Internet of Things for the period 2016-2018. From 2005-12 I was a senior researcher and adjunct faculty at TU Delft working on the EU FP7 Magnet (and Beyond) Project and the Dutch project PNP-2008 on Personal Networks (PNs), Future Home Networks, etc. I completed my PhD from IISc, Bangalore, India in 2003. During my PhD research, a scalable VoIP conferencing platform was designed. Many new ideas including a conjecture were formulated and tested by developing an application suite based on my research findings. The work involved an understanding of network protocols, application design and human-computer interface. My thesis work lead to a startup venture, Esqube Communication Solutions. I was leading a team of engineers developing many real-time applications including bridging anonymous VoIP calls called Click-to-Talk for Ebay.com. While at Esqube, eight patent applications and three PCT applications were filed along with my colleagues. Esqube was selected as top 100 IT innovators in India in 2006 by NASSCOM and top 100 in promising companies in Asia by RedHerring in 2008. I am a senior member of IEEE and ACM.

Symeon Papavassiliou is currently a Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. From 1995 to 1999, he was a senior technical staff member at AT&T Laboratories, New Jersey. In August 1999 he joined the ECE Department at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA, where he was an Associate Professor until 2004. He has an established record of publications in his field of expertise, with more than 300 technical journal and conference published papers. His main research interests lie in the area of computer communication networks, with emphasis o
n the analysis, optimization, and performance evaluation of mobile and distributed systems, Internet of Things, and complex systems. He received the Best Paper Award in IEEE INFOCOM 94, the AT&T Division Recognition and Achievement Award in 1997, the US National Science Foundation Career Award in 2003, the Best Paper Award in IEEE WCNC 2012, the Excellence in Research Grant in Greece in 2012 and the Best Paper Awards in ADHOCNETS 2015, ICT 2016 and IFIP WMNC 2019. He has served on several journal editorial positions, including: Editor of IEEE Communications Letters (2016-now), Editor-in-Chief for MDPI Future Internet- Internet of Things Section (2018-now), Technical Editor for IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine (2011-2015), Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (2010-2014), Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal "Sensors" MDPI (2016-now). Throughout his career, he has coordinated several national and international research and development projects, while he has served on the board of the Greek National Regulatory Authority on Telecommunications and Posts from 2006 to 2009.
